A good leader is one who values the opinions and different viewpoints of others. In creating organizational change as a leader requires a temperament that does not necessarily depend on the affirmation of others. Although very important, as a leader it would not govern my actions. To be effective, I would create a safe place where my staff feels that I am approachable. Without this aspect, I do not see how positive change could employed.

I would always express to my team that their help is needed and warranted and that their visions are just as important as mine. It is essential to create and atmosphere of teamwork as oppose to a dictatorship. Seeking out those who don't agree with the direction the organization is going in, is a crucial step in collaboration. These individuals may have valid points that need to be addressed and possibly even implemented in our WIG.

Lastly as a leader, it is vital to establish relationships. Getting to know your staff will speak to their hearts. For example, knowing who's kids play basketball or who's spouse is ill and simply asking about it, goes a long way. Showing genuine concern is a key component of being a good leader. These strategies I've pointed out are necessary in fostering change and making crucial conversions manageable and welcomed.
